We continue our series of team member profiles at Finance Montréal with an experienced colleague from our International Financial Center (IFC) team: André Tremblay, our Director, International Business Development.
What attracted you to Finance Montréal?
The IFC team’s mandate is, in many ways, a continuation of my previous activities—but in an absolutely fascinating sector: the financial industry. The challenge was appealing, and it still is today.
What do you enjoy most about working at Finance Montréal?
Finance Montréal focuses on four core mandates, and being able to collaborate with colleagues from the Sustainable Finance and Fintech teams brings new perspectives to our mission of attracting foreign investment. It allows us to strengthen the value we deliver to our international clients.
How do you approach challenges at work?
I talk them over with colleagues. Our team has a wealth of accumulated experience, and when faced with a challenge, there’s no need to hesitate to seek advice.
Tell us about an initiative you enjoyed working on and are proud of.
In the IFC team, we support companies as they establish or expand in Montréal. We always feel proud when a company decides to set up here (and stay) and create jobs.
Last year, for instance, we supported a French company that will be creating over 300 jobs through the establishment of its two subsidiaries. That’s incredibly rewarding!
Tell us about one of your passions.
I love to travel. Over the past year, I’ve visited Japan, Mexico, France, and Spain (my carbon footprint isn’t great…). I enjoy planning my trips just as much as taking them.
What motivates you on a daily basis?
Being useful, helping others, sharing my knowledge and experience—whether with younger or more experienced people. And also, continuing to learn from different generations, both at work and in everyday life.
