We’re continuing our series spotlighting the members of the Finance Montréal team with a feature on Aurélie Deveaux, who first joined the organization as an intern within the Sustainable Finance department and recently stepped into the new role of Advisor, Strategic Analysis and Coordination.
What drew you to Finance Montréal?
Finance Montréal is an environment where diverse experiences and cross-cutting skills are genuinely valued. I’ve followed a somewhat unconventional path, both in terms of my education and my professional background, and I’ve truly found a place where each of my experiences is not only recognized, but also appreciated.
What do you enjoy most about working at Finance Montréal?
Definitely the team! The kindness and support I felt from everyone when I joined really stood out. I also appreciate the genuine interest in building synergies across teams—sharing our projects like this makes a real difference day to day. I’m impressed by how the organization has managed to maintain such a friendly and welcoming atmosphere as it’s grown in recent years.
What do you do when you’re faced with a challenge at work?
When facing a challenge, I take a step back to identify its root cause—it’s not always obvious at first glance. Once I’ve pinpointed it, I assess the effort needed to resolve the issue and the potential benefits in order to define my action plan. From there, I seek out the best resources: knowledge, tools, colleagues... This pragmatic approach has often helped me implement more lasting solutions.
Do you have a hidden talent?
I’m a bit of a storyteller! I’ve written and performed a few original stories at various events. Now I’m just waiting for Finance Montréal to host a talent show!
Any current food or cultural favourites?
I’ve been rediscovering the music of Jay-Jay Johanson lately. My sisters and I grew up listening to his album Antenna, and his recent performance at the Montreal Jazz Festival definitely reignited that spark.
